City Council Approves Rate Increase for City Light

The Seattle City Council voted 5-4 on Nov. 23 to support a 13.8 percent rate increase for Seattle City Light. The new rates, along with spending cuts and additional money from increased transmission efficiencies and pole attachment agreements, will help City Light close its revenue gap, preserve its bond rating, and invest in its infrastructure to improve reliability. Update Your Account Information
image It's part of our ongoing efforts to improve customer service. Seattle City Light is enhancing communications for reporting outages and to receive information about outages. We need YOUR help! Many customers have had a City Light account for years and it's likely that your account information hasn't been updated for some time. Also, many of our customers now use a cellular telephone as their only phone service and we might not have that number in our system. Some of you have told us you'd like to get an e-mail when there's an outage because you can receive them on your cell phone. Please help us stay in touch by updating your contact information.

New Integrated Resource Plan

Seattle City Light purchases about 60 percent of the power from the Stateline wind farm
City Light's Integrated Resource Plan is the roadmap to ensure sufficient power resources to meet future customer needs. Over the next several months, City Light planners will be reviewing and updating this plan. City Light planners will seek advice from customers and outside utility experts. Our goal is to submit an updated plan to the state in the fall of 2010. The plan will also address how City Light will comply with the conservation and renewable generation requirements of Initiative 937 (I-937), passed by Washington voters in November 2006.
